Patricia Apollonia Kotero, an American actress and singer is also a model. The actress is best known for appearing in the film of Prince's Purple Rain and for having been the main singer for the girl group Apollonia 6. The actor and singer christened Apollonia by Prince became one of several female musicians during the 1980s who benefited through her relationship with Prince. Purple One. Her birth name was Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career started as a model and actress towards the end of the 1970s and included an appearance on the television show CHiPS. The year 1984 saw her landing the title of female lead for Prince's Purple Rain (during which time the singer made a change to her name) and replaced Vanity in the female trio Vanity 6 which performed in the film under the title Apollonia 6. She had a greater impact on the charts as Prince's dance partner in Take Me with You, which was a duet in his soundtrack. Kotero ended her relationship with Prince when the pair fell off over their future careers. Kotero went on to be featured in numerous minor movies during the time (reportedly having a hard time appearing on"The Purple Rain" sequel Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) and then landed in the role of a nighttime drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia was the first artist to release her album in 1988. But it was an average album of R&B and dance music that did not catch the attention of the general public. It quickly vanished out of sight. Her acting career continued (if it was somewhat off the public's radar), with small TV film roles, minor movies and an exercise DVD. Apollonia's album Stay With Me came out in 1997. Later, she returned to the school and for a degree in filmmaking before forming her own production firm. She is often involved in children's television. Apollonia has many hats. She was a model, actress, and manager of talent. She is best known as an actress for her part in the movie Purple Rain from 1984. She has also appeared in a variety of other films and television programs like Black Magic Woman and The Divorce Ceremony. Kotero debuted her career as a model.
